My diploma show took place both in one of the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg's pavilions and outdoors. The work consists of three interplaying parts; a walk, the exterior and interior of the pavilion. Holding a guitar decorated with wheat up to my naked torso, I walked across the garden of the academy while singing and playing ABBA´s "I have a dream" in a dilettantish manner. My body was ornamented with tattoos of dysfunctional nature furthering the romanticist outlook of the song onto my own skin. There was a huge straw facade on the pavilion and a large video installation filled the room. The observer was sucked into the view through the video. Intentional glitches in it play on a possibility of breaking out. The work thematised the question of an idealised understanding of nature, especially through the autobiographical background of agriculture. "Go Further" refuses to give the observer an overview which is contrasted to the spacious surroundings.
she will no longer be embedded
This work was created with the 15Hoch2 Kunsthallen Stipendium Kempten. The show was a collaboration with Simone Körner. The main sculpture is a bed in the centre of the room. From the bed, two projections cross each other on the wall. They show a dreamy video of traffic, highways and views through cars at day and at night. The bed is surrounded by gutters on the floor and silk ribbons hanging from metal bars on the ceiling. There's a mirror on the wall opposite the video, so the viewer might see their own reflection in the exhibition. The show addresses a naturalised vision of life, specifically romantic life and gender rolls and what they're good for. The work on the other hand reveals the daydream to be a growing horror, and exposes the self-made & artificial structures of society – camouflaged as some kind of promising nature. *2022
This work was shown at the Jahresausstellung at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg. The work is a large photograph of my old car, which has drawings in its bodywork. Whether the drawings were added later digitally or are actually etched into the metal is unclear. "I tried" exists in the unresolved conflict between my human sacrifice of shiny metal and the urge to improve what was once created. *2022
This work was shown at the Hia_Festival and in a group show at the Kunstverein Nürnberg. The original performance took place in a car park. Simone's body and my body were connected to the machines by a cable. The sound of a womb came out of the machines. We pushed the cars to move them. The performance is about the sick relationship between humans and these machines. It struggles with the overcoming of a way of life which presents the dystopia we live in. This becomes clear in the performance when Simone can't push the cars any further and I throw up oil. *2022
wasting my time
This performance happened at the opening of the group show „behind the curtains“ at Akademie Galerie in Nürnberg. I performed during the opening event, my face against the gallery windows, breathing and writing in the fogged glas. I repeated the sentence „wasting my time“ over and over, till text layers happened while the fog disappeared quickly. After that, I moved in the main rom, and draw with water never lasting infinity loops on a curtain. During the performance I listened with my airpods to the song „Infinity 2008“ (Guru Josh Project) and sang parts of the song like singing to myself. My outfit was normal day cloth and a shopping bag. In the performance I repeat the never ending lifstile of myself - representing a member of todays capitalistic society and the useless reproduction of it. *2022
lost in romance
This work was part of the group show „Flurs dénnui“ at ADA in Vienna. The exhibition space is an old flat, still with some furniture in it, and I worked site specific and use the bed and chair. A sheet forms a frame around the tablet on the bed. The video shows follow different scenes of myself under water; playing candy crush, brushing my hair, reading in magazines, writing love letters... .Next to the bed, like a nightstand, is a sculpture of a heart shaped penny dreadful book. The installation represents the romanticised idea of daydreaming and doing nothing. Caught in an over performed stereotype girls behavior of laying in bed - waiting - this over and over repeated teenager Fairy tale feels like a place what takes your breath away.
don't you forget about
This work was shown at the Open House Day of the Universität für Angewante Kunst in Vienna. The ice sculpture „me“ is not only the ending line of the title „Don´t you forget about“ - it is also disappearing/transforming during the exhibition. The forgetting is going to be manifested; what are the consequences of subjectivity leaving its form?
creature of the daylight
This work was shown at the Angewante Festival at the Universität für Angewante Kunst in Vienna. The performance was a walk, along the route of Günter Brus Wiener Spaziergang, through the inner city of Vienna. I was naked, full body painted with a fake outfit on. The performance challenges the norms of public space. The effect of the fake clothes also plays with the gaze of bypassers.
This work was shown at the exhibition "until tomorrow" at the Akademie Galerie in Nürnberg. The work consist of a video framed by a stone plate. The video shows myself in a mirror & water dropping in slow motion over myself. The work plays with the feeling of being stucked in an intermediate stadium bevor becoming something new.
uglyness is killing me
This work was shown at the Vitrine, an off space from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg. The drawing was made inside and outside the window with charcoal spray. The motives are my interpretation from nature. The nature motives are contrasted with the urban surrounding.
Let the gods stay with us
This work was shown at die Vitrine at the Hauptbahnhof Nürnberg. It is a narrow showcase outside the Central station. The Installation consisted of two sitting figures on plastic chairs. The figures had no head and they wore my own winter clothes. Their bodies consisted only of clothes, stuffed with other clothes and big wax hands. One figure also had a wax belly. Both held swords in their hands. The whole wall behind them was a spatial picture of antique columns. The work deals with the inertia of this generation and their forgotten power.
As far as the eye can see
This work was shown at the exhibition „on a scale of many“ in the Ausstellungshalle as part of the Jahresausstellung at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Nürnberg. The work was a big photography of four interlaced legs. Upon the alu-dibond surface some ink drawings on post-its were placed. These drawings on post-its are one of my oldest creative practices. The work deals with love and the questions around it and what comes after. To handle one of the biggest feelings known to us and trying to organize it and the urge to pin it down.
Reflections of my life
This work was first shown at the Jahresausstellung at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Nürnberg. The Room Installation took place in a small room, called the Mediathek. This room is usually used to watch films. For the work, everything that has been in the room for its purpose, was involved, all items were kept. The work consisted of an installation with and around the items of the room and also a performance, that took place there. In the installation, there were 2 videos, as well as an animated sentence which were projected and 2 videos which were shown on two installed Mac displays from the Mediathek. In the middle of the room was a microphone where the performance took place. There was also trash around. It was hand-washed plastic trash, partially in yellow trash bags, partially loose and connected to the technical stuff in the room. The performance was me, lip syncing to the song „Reflections of my life“ by the Marmalades. I was wearing a mustache whilst performing. The installation and the performance are connected and needed for the work. The work deals with the appropriation of something useless and its producer and the splintered relationship between them.
This work was shown at the Jahresausstellung at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Nürnberg. The work is a big bronze hanger. The sculpture was placed outside on some gravel ground. It is not in the usual exhibition room, but still keeping in touch with it. A photograph which shows the sculpture as a performed object with my body, was shown in the classroom as reference to the sculpture outside. The work deals with interspaces and the fusion of body and object. The object is a sculpture and can also be a wearable object, that has huge influence on the body.
